Wyoming County crash leaves one dead, five injured

PERRY CENTER – One person was killed and six others injured in the crash of a minivan and pickup at the intersection of route 246 and 20A about 12:20 p.m. Friday

State Police and the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office said the pickup was northbound on Route 246 and the minivan – believed to be en route from New Jersey to Ontario – headed west on Route 20A when the broadside collision occurred.

The person who was killed was in the minivan, according to police. Three others in the minivan were taken by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester. Two others in the minivan and the pickup driver were treated in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, for what non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

A Wyoming County Sheriff’s spokesman said it is currently unclear which vehicle had the right of way.Victims had to be extricated from the mangled minivan, police said. The investigation is continuing.
