Poloncarz should pay bill for his witch hunt
Let me get this straight. Erie County Legislator Joe Lorigo had to pay out of his own pocket to defend himself from political attacks by County Executive Mark Poloncarz, when Lorigo was falsely accused of vacating his office for accepting a position as town prosecutor.
The claims were bogus. Lorigo could do both. Poloncarz spent tens of thousands of dollars on legal opinions that, in the end, confirmed exactly what was known all along – that county legislators can, in fact, legally serve in both positions.
Since Lorigo had to use his own money to stay in office, shouldn’t Poloncarz pay out of his pocket for expenses related to his witch hunt as well? Taxpayers should not have to pay for the county executive’s political attacks.
