LOCKPORT – A man who severely beat two people with a crutch in an unprovoked attack outside Seneca Niagara Casino in Niagara Falls was sentenced to five years in prison Friday.
Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon tacked on five years of post-release supervision for Christian A. Tabb, 37, of Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls, who pleaded guilty to second-degree assault in the June 21, 2015, attack on a cab driver and another man. Tabb was not using the crutch because of any injury of his own, prosecutors said.
Sheldon said she watched the surveillance video of the attack and said if one of the men “hadn’t raised his arm to avoid the crutch, he’d probably be dead.”
Assistant Public Defender A. Joseph Catalano said Tabb was off his mental health medication at the time. “Once he was medicated properly, he was fine,” Catalano said.
