Sister John Patrick, taught at Holy Angels Academy

April 10, 1923 – June 21 2016

Sister John Patrick, a Grey Nun of the Sacred Heart who taught at Holy Angels Academy for 29 years, died Tuesday while under hospice care in her home in Derby. She was 93.

A native of Buffalo, she was at various times a guidance counselor, administrative assistant for development and director of alumna relations at Holy Angels.

At D’Youville College she served as assistant director of development for 13 years and was a member of the administrative team for the Grey Nuns.

Mary Patricia Russell graduated from Holy Angels Academy in 1941 and attended Bennett High School. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in sociology from D’Youville, a master’s degree in education from Canisius College, and a law degree from the University of Buffalo.

Before entering the Grey Nun order in 1950, she was employed by the City of Buffalo.

Sister John Patrick is survived by nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Angels Catholic Church, 348 Porter Ave.
