Sabres fans were just getting over another anniversary of Brett Hull’s infamous Stanley Cup-winning goal this week when the Dallas Stars Twitter account just had to bring it up again.
The goal, scored with a foot in the crease on June 19, 1999 (or, technically, about 1:30 a.m. on June 20), gave the Stars the Cup in downtown Buffalo. The Sabres haven’t been back to a Stanley Cup Final since.

The Stars didn’t say “HEY REMEMBER THAT TIME WE BEAT YOU?" All they had to do was offer a little correction (basketball has the “NBA Finals,” hockey has the “Stanley Cup Final” … it’s stupid) and twist the knife just a little bit deeper.
Shout-out to Christian for saying what the rest of us were thinking.
@DallasStars shut up

At least we’ll always have Don Cherry ripping Hull on the NBC set in 2007.
