Two men arrested Tuesday night are accused of possessing a handgun stolen in Buffalo nine years ago, Buffalo police said.
Jamal Johnson, 21, and Jonathan Huit, 28, both of Minnesota Avenue are charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
The two, who were arrested as officers investigated an unrelated crime, were sitting on the porch of their home in the 500 block about 9 p.m., police said, and observed throwing a white sock containing a heavy object behind a tree.
Police said the sock contained a 9 mm handgun loaded with six bullets – a weapon stolen in October 2007.
Johnson and Huit remained in Erie County Holding Center Wednesday night.
