Prison for man who took part in 2 Lockport restaurant burglaries

LOCKPORT – Benjamin D. Stump, who pleaded guilty to gun possession after taking part in thefts at two Lockport restaurants, was sentenced Wednesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon to 2½ to five years in prison.

Stump, 26, of High Street, Lockport, was found to have a gun after a Nov. 17 break-in at Reid’s Drive-In on Lake Avenue. He also took part in a Nov. 15 burglary at Dee’s Sugar Shack on West Avenue.

After his release from prison, Stump, who pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, will split $2,045.65 in restitution to the eateries with his co-defendant, Jeremy L. Dore, 26, of Washburn Street, Lockport, who was admitted to a court-supervised drug treatment program after pleading guilty.
