Grand Island Fire Company is recipient of honor, $1,000 check

Matt Osinski, chief of the Grand Island Fire Company, on Wednesday accepted the “Hands in The Community” award and a $1,000 check from Phil Mastantuono of the Mastantuono Allstate agency.

Osinski said the award honors the fire company for its community protection efforts and the money will go toward training firefighters and medics, new recruits and fire cadets to “ensure a state of readiness needed to handle an ever-increasing workload. Osinski said thus far this year, the company has already responded to more than 760 emergencies.
