Christopher Pabon wasn’t there when Brandon McDonald and Darinell Young were killed in 2006, but he played a role in the double murder.
And now he’s going to federal prison for 17 years.
Pabon, 26, a 10th Street gang member, admitted providing one of the guns used in the shooting deaths of the two innocent victims as part of a previous plea deal.
McDonald, 16, and Young, 45, were caught in the middle of a West Side drug war between the 10th Street and 7th Street gangs.
Both Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi and defense lawyer James DeMatteo referred to Pabon’s rough upbringing – his father and brothers were also gang members – in their comments to U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.
“I know we’re breaking that chain today,” DeMatteo said.
Pabon’s sentencing is the result of investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, a multi-agency effort that includes the State Police and Buffalo Police.
