Two accused of dealing in heroin as Genesee County Jail inmates

BATAVIA – Two former inmates arrested Tuesday are accused of dealing in heroin on April 24 while both were in Genesee County Jail, according to the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Bradley J. Broadbent, 36, of Hutchins Street, Batavia was remanded to the county jail without bail after pleading not guilty before Batavia City Court Judge Robert J. Balbick to single counts of third-degree criminal possession and sale of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband.

Ryan M. Bobzin, 27, of West Bergen Road, Bergen, was released on his own recognizance after he pleaded not guilty before Balbick to first-degree promoting prison contraband and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Authorities said Broadbent smuggled heroin into the jail and then sold some of it to Bobzin. Both were in jail at that time in unrelated cases.
