Teeing it up (June 22): This week’s golf and area holes-in-one

PGA Tour

Event: Quicken Loans National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md., Thursday through Sunday.

TV: Thursday and Friday, 3:30-6:30 p.m., Golf Channel; Saturday, 1-2:30 p.m., Golf Channel and 3-6 p.m., CBS, and Sunday, 1-2:30 p.m. on the Golf Channel and 3-6:30 p.m,, CBS.

Last Year: John Merrick took command with a course-record 10-under-par 61 in the third round and closed with a 67 to claim his first PGA Tour victory by three strokes over Rickie Fowler. After making his only bogey of the final round on the 12th hole, Merrick righted the ship and finished off the victory with birdies on two of the last three holes. Fowler had closed in with five birdies on the back nine but also had five bogeys in a 69. In his record-setting second round, Merrick birdied the first five holes, and six of the first seven, before stringing together four more in a row through No. 15 and added his 11th of the round on the 17th hole.

LPGA Tour

Event: Walmart Arkansas NW Championship at Meier LPGA Classic at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark., Thursday through Sunday. TV: Friday, 6:30-8:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 5:30-8 p.m., Golf Channel.

Last Year: Na Yeon Choi of South Korea took the lead when she holed her second shot for an eagle on the 16th hole and claimed her ninth victory on the PGA Tour by two strokes over Mika Miyazato of Japan. Choi, the 2012 U.S. Women’s Open champion, knocked in her approach shot from 142 yards with an 8-iron and then hit her second shot with the same club to within one foot of the hole for a birdie at No. 17 on the way to a 1-under-par 69. Miyazato had taken the lead with four birdies in a flawless first 12 holes, but took a double-bogey 6 on the 13th before making two birdies down the stretch in a 67.

Event: American Family Insurance Championship at University Ridge Golf Course in Madison, Wis., Friday through Sunday.

TV: Friday, noon-2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 3-5:30 p.m., Golf Channel.
