Buffalo sex offender pleads guilty to new child porn charge

A Buffalo man who admitted having sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl two years ago added a child pornography charge to his record Tuesday.

Johannes Hiram, 50, admitted possessing more than 600 child porn images, some of them of children under the age of 12, on his home computers as part of a plea deal with federal prosecutors.

Hiram, a self-employed property manager, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and will face a recommended penalty of up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Scott S. Allen said the defendant, after his arrest on federal charges in 2014, admitted having sexual contact with the underage girl at the center of the investigation. He made those admissions as part of a separate but related plea in state court.

Hiram’s convictions are the result of an investigation by the FBI and Buffalo Police.
