The Buffalo Sabres will open the coming season Oct. 13 at First Niagara Center against the Montreal Canadiens, the NHL announced Monday in revealing the home openers for each of its 30 teams. The remainder of the league schedule will be released on Tuesday.

The Sabres and Habs split last year's five-game series 2-2-1. Buffalo last opened a season against the Canadiens in 2009-10.

This will be the fourth time in the last five season and seventh time in the last nine that the Sabres will open at home.
