Cherry Creek man charged with choking person, child endangerment

CHERRY CREEK – A Chautauqua County man faces charges he hit and choked a person during an altercation on Saturday afternoon.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office charged Thomas M. McGinty, 50, of Weaver Road, with criminally obstructing breathing or blood flow, child endangerment and two counts of second-degree harassment.

McGinty allegedly shoved a 14-year-old who attempted to stop him during the altercation, which happened at about 2 p.m. in his home, the sheriff’s office said.

McGinty was arraigned with bail set at $5,000. He was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail.
