Tiana Luton of the Sweet Home Track Club established personal bests in the 100 meters hurdles (14.33) and 200 meters (25.46) on her way to a fourth-place finish with 4,883 total points in the women’s heptathlon that was completed on Saturday at the New Balance High School Outdoor Nationals at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
Luton, a senior, finished second in the 200 and long jump (18-4.5), but her highest point total (932) came with her third place in the 100 hurdles. Also, she was fifth in the high jump, seventh in the shot put, sixth in javelin and seventh in the 800 meters among the 12 heptathlon entrants. Emma Fitzgerald of Braintree, Mass. won with 5,464 points.
On Sunday, Sweet Home junior Sam Peterman finished 16th in 4:57.57 among 21 runners in the girls mile race and the Panthers’ 4x400 relay was 15th in a field of 25 teams in 3:20.16.
