Starpoint student wins county fair logo contest

LOCKPORT – Lockport resident Daniel Pyskaty, 13, has designed the winning logo for the Niagara County Fair contest.

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County announced that Daniel’s design earned the largest number of votes on Facebook last week. He earned a $100 cash prize and free fair passes and his logo will be used on all fair merchandise and promotional materials.

Daniel is finishing seventh grade at Starpoint Middle School, and competes on its cross country team, as well as being involved with 4-H and Boy Scouts.

More than 93 contestants submitted designs in the contest, open to youths ages 5 to 19, with a theme of, “Once Upon a Time in Niagara: the Fairytale.”

All entries will be showcased at the fair, Aug. 3-7 at the fairgrounds, 4487 Lake Road, Lockport.

The logo contest’s second-place winner was Erin Harrington, 15, of Lockport, while third place went to Joseph Dixon of Niagara Falls.

The fair is organized and operated by Cooperative Extension. The 2016 fair sponsors include Niagara’s Choice Credit Union, WKBW-TV and Cornerstone CFCU.
