Those who served in war don’t view Ali as a hero

As a veteran who served in Vietnam with the 9th Infantry and 196th Light Infantry, I find the praises for Muhammad Ali – calling him a hero for refusing to go into the military – insulting to every vet who served in war or peace time. Many good men and women who were casualties of war went, and we did our duty.

Ali would never have seen Vietnam or touched a weapon. His job would have been in special services, just like Elvis’ was.
