Tiana Luton of the Sweet Home Track Club established personal bests in the 100 meters hurdles (14.33) and 200 meters (25.46) on her way to a fourth-place finish with 4,883 total points in the women’s heptathlon at the New Balance High School Outdoor Nationals at North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C. Luton, a senior, finished second in the 200 and long jump (18-4.5), but her highest point total (932) came with her third place in the 100 hurdles. Also, she was fifth in the high jump, seventh in the shot put, sixth in javelin and seventh in the 800 meters among the 12 heptathlon entrants. Emma Fitzgerald of Braintree, Mass. won with 5,464 points.
Luton’s younger brother, Kaleb, was third in the freshman triple jump at 43-3 while Sweet Home’s sprint medley relay of Eric Johnson, Jalen Wallace, Nate Davis and Chris Nowak was sixth in 4:28.56.
Lockport’s relay of Jack Strobel, Christopher Sims, Scott Anderson and Connor Doran was fourth in the Emerging Elite 4x800.
Sweet Home’s Sam Peterman in the 1,500 meters and the boys 4x400 relay will compete in Sunday’s events.
