Getaway driver in store robbery gets year in jail

LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man who drove the getaway car in a 2012 robbery at a Wheatfield 7-Eleven store was sentenced Thursday to a year the Niagara County Jail for violating the terms of his probation.

James Williamson, 27, of Vandervoort Street, was placed on probation by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon for third-degree robbery in 2013. He drove robber Paul J. Schubert to and from the store on Plaza Drive Sept. 13, 2012. Schubert, 25, pleaded guilty to a series of store robberies and is serving a 10-year prison sentence in Franklin Correctional Facility.
