A Buffalo boater's guide to docking and dining

Welcome to dock-and-dine season. Here are some of the restaurants that encourage boaters to pull up, hop off and grab food or drinks before heading back to the water.

There are more places that could go on this list, but here's what we could gather in time for your lunchtime cruise. Some places could not be reached by telephone to confirm details.

  • Where to park: At the restaurant’s dock.
  • Price: Free
  • Peak docking hours: No peak, boats come and go.

Buffalo Riverworks

  • Where: 359 Ganson St.
  • Where to park: At the 400-foot dock by the General Mills plant and blue Labatt silos.
  • Price: $10 to park, no time limit; can be used toward purchases of $50 or more.
  • Peak docking hours: Between 5 and 7 p.m.
  • Phone: 342-2292

Charlie’s Boat Yard

  • Where: 1111 Fuhrmann Blvd.
  • Where to park: At the restaurant's 140-foot dock, located to the left of the building.
  • Price: Free
  • Peak docking hours: Fridays and Saturdays
  • Dock help: Dockhands will be available Fridays and Saturdays from 3 to 8 p.m.
  • During a wait: You can sit in your boat - they'll call when your table is ready.

  • Where to park: At the restaurant’s dock
  • Price: Free
  • Peak docking hours: Weekends between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m., fits four to five boats.
  • Takeout: Will run takeout orders to the boat

  • Where: 313 Niagara St., Tonawanda
  • Where to park: Across the street by Niawanda Park
  • Price: Free for stays up to two hours at the city-owned dock, then $5-$15 depending on size.

  • Where: 184 Sweeney St., North Tonawanda
  • Where to park: Public docking at the canal across the street.
  • Price: Free for stays up to two hours at the city-owned dock, then $5-$15 depending on size.
  • Peak docking hours: Late afternoon, around 6 p.m.

  • Where to park: Wall of the restaurant stretching out across Erie Canal.
  • Price: Free for stays up to two hours at the city-owned dock, then $5-$15 depending on size.
  • Peak docking hours: All weekend, holidays, events; can fit hundreds of boats

The Shores

  • Where to park: At the gasoline dock on the side of the restaurant.
  • Price: Free, but first ask attendant to park.
  • Peak docking hours: Weekend afternoons
  • Phone: 693-7971

LumberJack's Patio and Grill

  • Where: 1000 River Road, North Tonawanda
  • Where to park: On the restaurant’s dock next to the marina.
  • Price: Free
  • Peak docking hours: Friday night, but typically does not fill up.
  • Phone: 693-4349

Bella Vista, inside the Four Points by Sheraton

  • Where: 7001 Buffalo Ave., Niagara Falls
  • Where to park: On the hotel's dock, which is about as big as the hotel.
  • Price: Free 
  • Peak docking hours: Thursday to Sunday, mid-afternoon to night.
