Three parked cars vandalized in Central District

Already investigating three possibly-related incidents of parked cars vandalized on three Central District streets since 9 a.m. Monday, Buffalo police Tuesday warned motorists leaving their cars on city streets to make sure no valuables are left in the vehicles, even if they are locked.

Even small amounts of change can attract vandals. officials said. All valuables, if left in vehicles, should be placed in a safe compartment or the trunk.

The three cars vandalized on Trinity Place, Whitney Place and Mariner Street Monday and early Tuesday, all had windows smashed in so the crooks could get into the vehicles, officials said. Police declined comment when asked if more patrols would be posted throughout the Central District in coming days. Anyone with information about such incidents is asked to call the Buffalo Police Confidential TIPCALL line at 847-2255.
