Hamlin Park woman charged after pit bull dies of apparent heat stroke

A Hamlin Park woman was charged with animal cruelty Tuesday by investigators from the SPCA Serving Erie County. Fabiola Castro has been ordered to appear June 27 in Buffalo City Court for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of animal cruelty. Aaron Kandefer, head of SPCA Animal Cruelty Investigations, said a call was made Thursday about a female pit bull terrier found unresponsive on an upper porch of Castro’s home on Pleasant Place. The dog allegedly died of heatstroke.
