Village of Williamsville residents will gather at 11 a.m. Monday in the Williamsville Cemetery on Main and Reist streets for the 76th annual Memorial Day Ceremonies.
The event is intended to recognize and salute U.S. military veterans buried in the two century old cemetery, with its mature shade trees and gentle rolling hills. The property, in the heart of the village, was first used for burials in 1810 and formalized as a burying ground in 1824.
The Williamsville Cemetery has been part of the Forest Lawn Group since 2001.
Monday’s ceremonies are sponsored by the Williamsville Cemetery, George F. Lamm Post 622, Amherst Township Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 416, the Town of Amherst and the Village of Williamsville.
