Diane G. Clarke, UB earthquake research librarian

May 15, 1942 – May 26, 2016

Diane G. Clarke, a research librarian for the University at Buffalo’s Multidisciplinary Center for Earthquake Engineering Research, died Thursday in Wells Hospice House, Getzville, after a battle with cancer.

She was 74.

The former Diane Kennedy was born in New Orleans and graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School. She studied at Loyola University in New Orleans, earning a bachelor’s degree in library science .

Mrs. Clarke also lived and studied in Mexico City before enrolling at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she earned a master’s degree in library science.

She moved to Western New York with her husband, Alan Bruce Clarke, in November 1977 and worked for the Central Library in downtown Buffalo before accepting the UB position.

She and her husband were enthusiastic travelers.

Survivors include her husband of 38 years and a sister, Alice Liuzza.

Services are private, with a celebration of her life to be announced at a later date.
