Starting time for 5-kilometer Run: 8:30 a.m. Saturday
The Donnelly Challenge: A special award will be sent to those who run both the 5-kilometer race and the marathon. It is named after Tom Donnelly, the late race director.
Kids’ Mini-Marathon: Races for those 8 years old and younger will be held in front of the Convention Center, starting at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Preregistration is required.
The Expo: It opens at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Convention Center, and runs through 6 p.m. In addition to a packet pickup area for runners, more than 50 vendors will take part in the exposition. Admission is free.
Saturday Expo Speaker Schedule: 10 a.m. - Bart Yasso, Chief Running Officer at Runners World; 11 a.m. - DeAnna Bennett, an MMA fighter and half-marathon runner; 12 noon - Misty Diaz, Spartan Racer Raising Awareness for Spina Bifida; 1 p.m. - Molly Barker, founder of Girls on the Run; 2 p.m. - Meb Keflezighi, Olympic medalist in the marathon (via satellite); 3 p.m. - Liza Howard, Ultra Runner and Team RWB Coach; 5:15 p.m. (at Pasta Party) - Steve Gonsor, physical therapist.
Pasta dinner: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday in the Convention Center’s Ballroom. Tickets to the dinner will not be sold at the Expo and must be purchased ahead of time.
Memorial Day Slow Roll: Bicyclists will meet Monday at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval and Military Park at 5:30 p.m. for a 6:30 ride through local military landmarks. There is no charge.
Road closures: Several streets will be blocked off on the course, beginning as early as 4:30 a.m. in some cases and lasting until 2 p.m. Check the list of affected areas at buffalomarathon.com.
Charities to benefit from race: Team RWB, Neurofibromatosis Northeast, The Police Athletic League. Girls on the Run, Hospice Buffalo, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Yogis in Service, God Winks Inc., Neighborhood Legal Services.
