A 92-year-old Getzville woman was run over by a car at about noon Friday in front of a medical building on Wehrle Drive in Amherst, Amherst Police Capt. Patrick McKenna said.
The woman, identified by police as Marjorie S. Lazarus, was waiting for a taxi cab in front of 825 Wehrle and was holding a door handle of a 2013 Ford Suburban, which was stopped in front of the building.
Police said the driver of the Ford, identified as Masood J. Farooqui, 70, also of Getzville, moved forward and Lazarus fell between the vehicle and the curb.
Witnesses yelled for the driver to stop, but he ended up backing up and ran over Lazarus’ left calf.
She was taken to Erie County Medical Center for treatment of a compound fracture of her lower left leg.
No charges have been filed.
