Fires in two occupied East Side homes broke out within about an hour of each other Thursday afternoon, Buffalo fire officials said.
Firefighters were called at 4:11 p.m. for a report of fire in the rear stepdown at 71 Person Street, between Ashley and Grimes streets, officials said. The fire caused an estimated $25,000 in damage to the 2-story home and $5,000 in damage to its contents.
About an hour later firefighters were called for a report of fire in the occupied three-family home at 336 Fillmore Avenue, between Olga Place and Howard Street, officials said.
That fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the building and $35,000 in damage to its contents.
The cause of both fires is under investigation. The Red Cross was called to assist three adult occupants of the Fillmore home and four adults and one child on Person.
No injuries were reported.
