Cina LaGrange, former deputy chief clerk for Buffalo City Court

April 22, 1955 – May 21, 2016

Cina LaGrange, former deputy chief clerk of Buffalo City Court, died last Saturday in Buford, Ga., after a long battle with breast cancer. She was 61.

Born in Buffalo, she was a 1973 graduate of Lafayette High School and studied human services at Empire State College.

Ms. LaGrange began working for Buffalo City Court in 1995 as a part-time secretary.

In 2006, she was appointed as the second-highest-ranking nonjudicial employee of the court.

She also supervised the city’s summer internship program at the court, placing and assisting young people interested in legal careers.

She retired in 2014 and recently moved to Georgia.

In 2010, she was honored with a Black Achievers in Industry Award.

Survivors include a son, Vincent; a daughter, Michele Mitchell; her mother, Kaye; two sisters, Miya and Kim; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be held Saturday in Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel, Buford, Ga.
