The Section VI Football Federation has released its schedule for 2016.
Some of the highlights:
Week One features a Catholic-Public schools doubleheader at All High Stadium Friday, Sept. 2 with St. Mary's facing Hutch-Tech at 4 p.m. and defending state champion South Park hosting St. Joe's in the nightcap.
Those are two of three Monsignor Martin vs. Section VI games opening weekend. Lockport visits Canisius on Saturday, Sept. 3.
Other Week One highlights include Section VI Class AA champion Orchard Park hosting Section V's Pittsford on Sept. 2. On the same night, Lancaster visits Williamsville South, while Maple Grove's return to Class D as its own varsity program for just this season includes a road game at Portville. Bennett opens at West Seneca East.
Two-time defending Class B champion Cheektowaga hosts Dunkirk. Alden and Depew also renew pleasantries in a Class B East clash at Alden.
A couple interesting quirks to the schedule. Eden/North Collins makes its return Friday, Sept. 2 and then has a short rest to play Chautauqua Lake Sept 6. C. Lake then has to play that Saturday.
Week Two, Sweet Home plays its first Friday night home game when it faces West Seneca West. Springville hosts Frontier in a B South vs. AA South nonleaguer.
Springville has two of those as in Week Five it hosts Jamestown.
Week Seven is the usual rivalry week games between Lancaster and Depew, Albion and Medina and the T-NT game with North Tonawanda visiting Tonawanda.
The postseason begins Oct. 21.
