The Buffalo Orienteering Club will hold a training session and regular event Saturday in Chestnut Ridge Park.
The day starts at 10 a.m. with a 60-minute non-competitive training event for walkers or runners of all ages and experience levels. A $10 fee includes instruction on using map and compass, a map of the park and entry into one of the regular orienteering courses that follow the session.
Registration for the orienteering meet, with novice to advanced courses, will run from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m., with starting times for the courses from 11 a.m. to noon. Entry costs $10 for non-members and $5 for members.
All the courses can be walked or raced individually or in groups, and will start from Shelter 21 near the park’s Newton Road entrance. Visit www.buffalo-orienteering.org for more information.
