College clips (May 25): Notes and awards

Buffalo State: The 4x100 relay team of Shuntone Pricher, Catarra Burroughs, Niasha Houpe and Jazlyn Porter (Niagara Falls) take the fastest Division III time in the nation into the NCAA Division III Women’s Outdoors Track & Field Championship that begin Thursday at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Porter, a senior communications major, also will compete in the 400 meters, an event in which she posted the fifth-fastest qualifying time (55.33 seconds). … Meanwhile, Benjamin Ezike will compete in the triple jump during the men’s nationals at the same location. Ezike, the reigning Division III indoor champion in the event, has the fifth-best qualifying distance at 47 feet, 11.98 inches.

University of Rochester: Jonathan Kuberka (Clarence) received All-Region recognition from U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association for performances in the long jump that included a 22-foot, 9-inch leap at the Bucknell Bison Classic.
