The State Liquor Authority has cited 16 stores in Erie County for selling alcohol to underage customers.
The authority conducted undercover sting operations at 70 businesses on May 19, it said Tuesday.
The stores cited were: Spice Bazaar, 3311 Sheridan Drive, Amherst; University Mobil, 3652 Sheridan Drive, Amherst; Robo Self Serve, 5095 Main St., Williamsville; Williamsville Liquor Store, 5511 Main St., Williamsville.
Also, Passport Wine & Spirits, 8855 Main St., Clarence; Premium Wine & Spirits, 7980 Transit Road, Williamsville; Niagara County Produce Inc., 8555 Transit Road, East Amherst; Best Value Wine and Liquor, 1100 Southwestern Blvd., West Seneca.
In Buffalo, the authority cited Price Rite Market, 324-326 West Delavan Ave.; Save A Lot, 142 Grant St.; Family Food Market, 412 Auburn Ave.; Evergreen Mini Mart, 163 W. Ferry St.; Elmwood Express Minimart, 460 Elmwood Ave.; Corner Stop, 445 Massachusetts Ave.; Mini Max Market, 319 Massachusetts Ave.; and Hampshire Express, 170 Hampshire St.
Licensees charged with underage sales face civil penalties of up to $10,000 per violation, with fines starting from $2,500 to $3,000 for a first time offense, the authority said. Repeat offenders also face potential suspension or revocation of their licenses.
