Alcohol, needles found after driver leaves roadway

WETHERSFIELD – A man who drove his car into a field early Saturday morning faces felony impaired driving charges, the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash, near Mote and Hermitage roads, happened at about 5:45 a.m.

The driver, identified as Steven Snyder, failed to stop at a stop sign and drove across Hermitage Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Snyder failed several field sobriety tests, and hypodermic needles and open containers of beer were found in the vehicle.

Snyder and a female passenger were transported to Wyoming County Community Hospital with minor injuries.

Authorities charged Snyder with felony driving while ability impaired, possession of hypodermic needles, consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, driving without a seatbelt and making an unsafe lane change.

More charges may be filed as authorities await results of blood tests.
