An Orchard Park woman pushed, kicked and tried to spit at police officers Saturday afternoon after she was found passed out behind the wheel of her pickup.
Officers responded to a plaza on South Abbott Road at about 2 p.m. for the report of an unresponsive person in a vehicle, Orchard Park Police said.
Emergency responders were able to wake up the driver, identified as Kathleen Riggi, 43, who was uncooperative with police and refused medical attention. She refused “to do anything they requested,” including submitting to field sobriety tests, police said.
As police were arresting her on charges of driving while intoxicated and obstruction of governmental administration, she fought with officers as they led her toward a patrol car. In addition to punching and kicking and trying to spit at them, she made threats to kill the officers and their families, police said.
Riggi, who also maintains a residence in Kentucky, did submit to blood and urine tests. Police also charged her with resisting arrest and possession of prescription pills outside of their original container.
She posted $200 bail and has an appearance scheduled for May 31 in Orchard Park Town Court.
