Immaculata Academy in Hamburg graduates its last class

Immaculata Academy’s final class of seniors graduates Monday evening at Our Lady of Victory Basilica.

This is the 87th commencement for the Hamburg school, which is closing later this year. The Franciscan Sisters of St. Joseph announced in February that they will be ending their sponsorship of the high school, due to dwindling numbers of sisters, who are aging.

There are 50 young women graduating from the private, Catholic college-prepatory high school for girls. Underclassmen have a week of classes followed by exams before the doors are closed.
