Man with shotgun and baby surrenders after standoff

JAMESTOWN – A Jamestown man surrendered to police Friday night after barricading himself in a bedroom for almost four hours with a shotgun and an 8-month-old child, Jamestown police reported.

Darin A. Buvoltz, 25, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, criminal mischief and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The incident on Park Street arose from a domestic dispute, police said. Buvoltz, after negotiations over the telephone with authorities, broke a window and turned the child over to police and surrendered, police said.

Additional charges are possible, police said. Buvoltz was taken to the city jail, awaiting arraignment.
