Small nodules on thyroid can indeed be cancerous
I am writing in regard to the opinion that thyroid removal is not necessary for small nodules.
I just had my thyroid removed on May 6, because a biopsy detected cells worrisome for cancer in my thyroid. I had nodules on both sides; 8 mm on the right and less than 2 mm on the left side. The small one on the left side ended up not only being cancerous, but revealing more cancer behind it. If my doctor had not decided to remove my thyroid, he would not have detected the cells behind it.
Cancer found early is much easier to treat. I am thankful that I received the surgery, and I wanted to let others know that this kind of surgery can save lives.
