A burglary victim who had at least $1,500 worth of sneakers taken during a break-in at his Northampton Street home on Saturday afternoon found a clever way to get the items back.
He went on Facebook, saw many of the items advertised for sale and arranged to meet the people trying to sell them.
That meeting occurred early Sunday afternoon on Best Street, where Ferry-Fillmore District police reported that three individuals were either wearing or carrying several of the pairs of sneakers. Officers also recovered the cell phone that was used to arrange for the sale, they said.
Police arrested Markel Page, 20, and two teenagers, according to the police report. It wasn’t clear whether they were charged with burglary and grand larceny, or just possession of stolen property.
