Vocalist Cory James Gallagher and his sister, poet Amy Gallagher, will offer a pair of Concerts for the Soul this weekend to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Sister Karen Klimczak and her devotion to nonviolence.
The events will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Sunday in Ss. Columba-Brigid Catholic Church, 75 Hickory St. between Clinton and North Division streets. Donations will benefit Sister Karen’s PeacePrints Foundation.
“PeacePrints: A Musical-Poetic Tribute” will feature poetry that includes Sister Karen’s writings and journal entries as well as original music written and performed by Cory James Gallagher with singer Linda Appleby, pianist Chuck Basil, violinist Sara Rice and harpist Azure James, along with special lighting designed by Elias Damian Benavides.
“What happened to this dear nun Sister Karen rocked the hearts of Buffalo,” Cory James Gallagher says. “She has left a powerful legacy. ... This will be an evening for people to heal, shed tears and, most of all, smile – just as Sister Karen would want us to do.”
