Last year’s George A. Obenauer Masters champion rebounded from a poor start with a four-game set of 883 Wednesday night to finish with a two-day qualifying total of 1,586 – good for 27th place.
The top 32 advance to Thursday night’s match play at AMF Airport Lanes.
The 39-year-old Dolan’s 883 was the third-highest set a day after five bowled 910 or better.
Ryan Ciminelli, who began the day in second place, is the top qualifier as the PBA Tour pro from Cheektowaga followed up a 935 opening series with an 874 four-game block for a two-day total of 1,809. Day one leader John Szczerbinski of North Tonawanda followed up a 948 with an 835 Wednesday for a pinfall of 1,783.
Match play begins at 6 p.m. Thursday with the first of two winner’s bracket shifts. The second follows at 7:45 p.m. with an elimination bracket shift to follow.
