Why it’s worth watching: If anyone besides Tina Fey had to pitch this series, it might have seemed too ludicrous to consider. But the combination of her joke-a-second comedy writing perfected as the brains behind “30 Rock” and Ellie Kemper’s pitch-perfect portrayal of a fish out of a water – or perhaps a mole out of a cave – has put “Kimmy” at the top of many a “to binge” list. Whether she is dealing with the technological advancements that occurred in her decade-and-a-half off the grid, distancing herself from her previous life in – or rather, under – Durnsville, Ind. – or digesting dialogue with roommate Titus Andromedon (Burgess), Kemper’s performance never veers far from hilarious. And because each episode is a sitcom-like 25 minutes or so, it’s easy to get immersed in a whole lotta Kimmy and still manage to accomplish something else during the day – like figuring out why this is the first time you’ve ever seen a character named Xanthippe on a show.
