NIAGARA FALLS – Witnesses told police that a suspected drunken driver was driving at high speed in the wrong direction on Michigan Avenue about 7 p.m. Friday before losing control and crashing head-on into a parked car.
The impact shoved the parked car into another parked vehicle, injuring a young mother who was sitting inside that vehicle with her child. She was treated at an area hospital for head and neck pain.
Police said the DWI suspect, Ronald L. Wilson, 48, of 11th Street suffered minor injuries and was treated in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Wilson, who was convicted of driving while intoxicated last July, also had removed an ignition interlock device, police said. He was charged with felony DWI, speeding, reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
