Please tell us about yourself:

I am 45 years old and a life long WNY resident. I have been married to my wife,Margaret, for 21 years and we have 3 kids and 2 grandchildren. My son, Kyle, is currently a Junior at Depew, My daughter Emily is a Freshman at George Washington University and my Grandaughter is in Kindergarten at Cayuga Heights. I work as a Human Resources Branch Chief for U. S. Customs and Border Protection and have worked there for 20 years.

Please describe the top issues facing your school district and how you would address them as a school board member.:

The number one issue facing schools today is the lack of a fair funding structure. The simple fact is the current structure helps out wealthy districts disproportionately to poorer districts. While only our politicians can change that, I will continue to champion keeping our educational programs in tact while respecting our taxpayers. This will be accomplished by maintaining the lean, fair budgets that Depew has come to expect from our board.

Do you think public education in New York is headed in the right direction? Yes

Please explain why, in 100 words or less.:

I say yes to the extent that I believe in challenging our students and raising standards. What I cannot tolerate is the terrible way the Common Core was thrust upon us. I would like to see more state and local control while maintaining the increase in rigor that was intended to prepare our children for the future. I would like our administration and teachers setting the curriculums to accomplish this.
