With Public Enemy and Coolio already on the books for summer 2016, Buffalo will get another dose of hip-hop nostalgia as Ja Rule makes a rare intimate club appearance at 9 p m. May 27 in Waiting Room (334 Delaware Ave.).
Formally of the rap collective Cash Money Click, Ja Rule found commercial success following the release of his 1999 debut solo album, "Venni Vetti Vecci." From the late 1990s to mid 2000s, you would be hard pressed to find a Billboard chart without one of his many hit singles on it. Frequent team-ups with Ashanti, as well as collaborations featuring Jennifer Lopez, Christina Milian, R Kelly and others kept the musician in constant radio play until he temporarily stepped away from recording music in 2005. His eighth studio album "Cope De Grace" will be released sometime this year.
Tickets are currently available for $35 advance (TicketFly), $40 day of show or $85 meet-and-greet. The rapper will be joined by DJ Dovey, Biacco and P Nasty.
