A convicted felon from Buffalo is facing a new weapons charge in Buffalo federal court.
Antonio Eldridge, 27, is accused in a grand jury indictment of displaying a firearm to children earlier this year.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Brendan T. Cullinane said Buffalo police, acting on a tip, found Eldridge hiding in a basement crawl space of the children’s residence. He said the officers also recovered a Winchester .22 caliber rifle hidden under a mattress in the home.
Prosecutors say the defendant had been ordered to stay away from both the children and the residence and, as a convicted felon, was legally prohibited from possessing a gun.
The indictment is the result of an investigation by Buffalo police and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
