An award-winning author who advocates the use of native plants in gardening will be featured in the Western New York Land Conservancy’s Speaker Series at 7 p.m. next Tuesday in the University at Buffalo Center for the Arts on the North Campus in Amherst.

Doug Tallamy, author of “Bringing Nature Home,” will give a presentation titled “Rebuilding Nature’s Relationships at Home.” The evening will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available at the Center for the Arts box office or online at Previous Land Conservancy speaker programs have sold out.

“We have eliminated so much nature so fast that most people don’t realize how little is left,” Tallamy says. “Particularly in the East, we have devastated our natural areas to the point where if we are going to have functioning ecosystems, if we’re going to have biodiversity, we need to start sharing the property that we’ve taken.”
