3 escape early-morning fire in Ransomville

RANSOMVILLE – The Red Cross is helping three people after an early-morning fire caused $40,000 in damage to a home on Youngstown-Lockport Road.

The blaze broke out at about 4 a.m. at 2380 Youngstown-Lockport Road, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office said.

The homeowner woke up to the odor of smoke and looked around. When he went outside, he saw smoke coming from the roof, the sheriff’s office said.

Volunteer firefighters from Ransomville Fire Co. were able to contain the blaze to the chimney area.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
