State group home worker admits improper credit card use

A state employee at a Gowanda group home has pleaded guilty to using a government credit card to make personal purchases.

Corrine G. Alexander, 37, pleaded guilty in Erie County Court to the misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, the State Inspector General’s Office announced Monday.

Alexander, of Gowanda, was charged after an investigation found she used a state-issued credit card to buy groceries and beauty products for herself while working as a direct support assistant for the state Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

Alexander, who paid $1,000 in restitution under the plea agreement, is scheduled to be sentenced July 25.
