Rally for Ken-Ton schools set for Wednesday

Parents, students, teachers and community members are invited to a rally at the corner of Sheridan Drive and Colvin Boulevard Wednesday to advocate for change in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District.

At the rally, which will take place at 5 p.m., participants will urge the district to implement changes such as a balanced curriculum and reducing what critics say is excessive collection and over-reliance on data and testing, according to Eric Miehelbergel, who has been critical of the Common Core.

Last month’s Ken-Ton School Board meeting attracted several hundred people, and saw nearly 40 teachers step up to the microphone. Some teachers feel the district is adhering too strictly to curriculum modules.
