Motorists should expect lane restrictions late at night on Transit Road at William Street on the Cheektowaga-Lancaster town line while a new sanitary sewer line is being installed, Erie County officials report.
The county’s Department of Environment and Planning Division of Sewerage Management announced Monday that work is scheduled to begin on the section of the line that crosses the intersection of Transit and William. To reduce delays, work will start at 10 p.m. each night and finish by 6 a.m.
The work is part of the $7.8 million Aurora North Pumping Station Elimination Project, which began last fall in Sewer District 4. Scheduled for completion next fall, the project will install new gravity flow lines from Borden Road in Cheektowaga to Aurora Street in Lancaster and remove the outdated pumping station.
